Owner of dive gear found

Police have tracked down the owner of dive gear found floating off Wellington's south coast yesterday.

The gear, a black buoyancy compensator device and blue air tank with an Island Bay Divers sticker on it, was found about 1km from Ohau Point, south of Makara Beach, about 6.30pm, police said.

It appeared the gear had fallen off the back of a boat and there was no diver missing.
