Owner attacked in fast food outlet raid

Palmerston North police are hunting a knife-wielding robber who held up a fast food outlet and assaulted the owner.

The man entered Oceans Fast Food Takeaways on Vogel Street in Palmerston North about 9pm yesterday.

He took a large sum of money before striking the owner of the store in the head and knocking her to the ground, Detective Johnny Oram said.

She received medical treatment but her injuries were not serious.

Mr Oram said police would like to hear from a man who left the store shortly before the robbery or anyone who was in the area at the time.
