Owners and drivers of overweight trucks crossing Auckland Harbour Bridge will face police reports in tough new action to protect the transport lifeline.
The Transport Agency says it is disappointed to have found an average of 22 trucks exceeding a weight limit of 44 tonnes on the bridge's clip-on lanes each day.
The agency could not prosecute but would pass details of overweight vehicles to the police.
