KEY POINTS:
A truck carrying lime which overturned in the Waikato River near Huntly this morning was being lifted out by crane to prevent the chemical leaking into the river.
Inspector Gavin MacDonald said the truck had to be removed immediately to ensure the river's safety.
The removal process was expected to begin at 12.30pm and last for about three and four hours.
Traffic will be diverted onto to the west side of the river.
