News they could be back on Queen Elizabeth Park oval in Masterton for their remaining three home games in the Central League football competition is music to the ears of Wairarapa United players.
That's the word from midfielder Aaron Spierling who said the concession of home advantage in recent matches against Miramar Rangers (lost 2-1) and Palmerston North Marist (lost 3-2) had been "very disappointing" for team members and supporters.
However, there was possible light at the end of the tunnel as, after being told the Masterton District Council had shut out United from the oval for the remainder of the season because of surface conditions, they had since been advised ground closure would now be decided on a game-to-game basis.
"We have a terrific record at home and a lot of it is because we get good crowds and they really get behind us," Spierling said. "Opposition teams never enjoy coming here, they'd much rather play us on their territory."
United have six matches to play to complete their 2014 league campaign.
