A national emergency text service was affected by a technical outage today, police say.
Confirming the outage, police said the problem with the 111 TXT service, which allows people with hearing and speech difficulties to contact emergency services via text, has since been fixed.
"We thank the public for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused," police said.
Only people who are registered with the text service can contact emergency services through the 111 TXT system.
