The old Brady Rd landfill in Otahuhu will be re-opened today as a coastal park.
It has 26,000 native plants, walkways, a wetland and a fenced wildlife sanctuary to protect native copper skinks from predators. The 5.5ha park is an extension of Seaside Park overlooking Otahuhu Creek and Tamaki River.
The spot was transformed by the Auckland City Council over four years at a cost of $2.5 million and has won the Arthur Mead premier environmental award from the Auckland branch of the Institution of Professional Engineers.
