Police have received a report of a naked man tramping at Colquhouns beach, West Wanaka, between 11.30am and noon yesterday, sparking a fresh bout of calls for public assistance in identifying the person.
An unknown naked tramper has been occasionally reported walking the Outlet and Mt Iron tracks near Wanaka township since December, but this is the first reported sighting of a naked man tramping in a remote location.
It is not known if it is the same person, although all reports have described the man as caucasian.
Colquhouns Beach is on the unpopulated west side of Lake Wanaka, on the track to Minaret Burn. It is reached by boat, bike or walking.
Wanaka police are keen to identify and talk to the tramper because public nudity is an offence in New Zealand.
