A male pedestrian was hit by a truck and seriously injured on State Highway 1 in Otago last night.
Police said the crash occurred shortly after 1am just south of the township of Maheno.
The truck was travelling north when the pedestrian was struck, police said.
The man sustained serious injuries and was flown by rescue helicopter to Dunedin Hospital.
The driver of the truck was shaken but unhurt, police said.
