An organisation representing LGBTIQ organisations in Oceania has extended their solidarity to the queer community in Orlando, Florida.
The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association Oceania (ILGA) gave their thoughts and prayers to those who had lost loved ones in the US's worst gun massacre to date.
At least 50 people were killed inside a gay nightclub when a lone gunman opened fire yesterday.
"This morning we are awakened by the collective sound of the wailing of the broken hearts of the parents, siblings, family and friends of those who lost their lives," said ILGA spokesman Rawa Karetai.
"Though far from our shores in Oceania, we are connected by a shared set of values that is the very fabric of our struggle for a free and equal society.
