Organisers of the biennial Wings over Wairarapa spectacle are confident the weather will hold for an expected crowd of more than 30,000 show-goers during the weekend.
Bob Francis, Wings Over Wairarapa Community Trust Chairman, said organisers believe there will be no repeat of the heavy rain that kept punters away in droves on the last day of the airshow two years ago.
"We're obviously monitoring the weather very closely and we're very confident the issues in 2011 will not be repeated," Mr Francis said.
He said there is a practise day today ahead of the two-day airshow. Rain had washed out the Hood Aerodrome airshow site in 2011 and destroyed gate takings for the final day.
Mr Francis said advanced ticket sales this year had been strong and most pre-sale ticketholders were travelling from the capital, as well as from throughout New Zealand and internationally.
