Orewa bank robbed

Police are searching for a man who robbed the Orewa Westpac Bank around 10am today.

It was not known if the man had been armed, the teller handing over an undisclosed sum of cash after the robber gave her a note.

The man then ran from the bank.

He was described as Maori or Pacific Islander, in his 20s, 170 - 180cm and of medium build.

He was wearing blue jeans, a grey/light green hoodie, sunglasses and a baseball cap.

Police said the man was last seen walking up Tamariki Ave towards Centreway Rd and they had been searching that area.
