Police in Hamilton who issued a safety order, used when there is not enough evidence to make an arrest but when police suspect taking no action would result in domestic violence, have made a drugs bust.
Officers who took a woman back to her Waitetuna home, 30km west of Hamilton, found an indoor cannabis-growing operation and chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
"The constables noticed light coming from under a door during the middle of the day and smelled a strong chemical smell which warranted a search of the house under the Misuse of Drugs Act," Detective Sergeant Nigel Keall said.
A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and explosives, and drug counts.
