The America's Cup yachts were not alone in the water yesterday.
Some of the ocean's prime predators were on the lookout for a meal in the Waitemata Harbour, and stingray was probably top of the menu.
The pod of orca, or "killer whales", cruised into the harbour's shallower waters looking for their favourite food.
A pod of orca were also reported cruising just off Pakiri Beach near Leigh last weekend and near Kawau Island.
New Zealand's orca population are renowned for their stingray-hunting behaviour, often grubbing below the seafloor to scare out their barbed prey.
