KEY POINTS:
The chief executive of the Sir Edmund Hillary Outdoor Pursuits Centre, Dr Grant Davidson, said there was some relief the tragic events of last year would not be dragged through a long court process.
"I think that some people would be relieved they can see some timelines in place," he said.
"We still don't know when the sentencing has been assigned, it may be as late as May, which is not ideal."
Dr Davidson said the centre at Tongariro continued to receive "enormous support" from people around New Zealand and the globe.
"We still get a lot of emails and phone calls and the latest surge in media interest has only caused that to spike again in response."
He said staff were coping well and were getting on with their jobs.
But he said the future of OPC instructor Jodie Sullivan, who led the group on the fateful canyoning expedition last April, was uncertain.
"She's still taking a break from everything ... it's too early to say what she's going to do," he said.
