There will be plenty at stake when Martinborough and Opaki meet in a catch-up Wairarapa regional one tennis match at Martinborough tomorrow.
Martinborough go into the fixture equal first on the competition table with defending champions Pirinoa. However, the southerners can be said to be the front runners as they have two games in hand.
Opaki lie third with 40 points and have one game in hand over Pirinoa which means, of course, that to all intents and purposes they are Martinborough's closest rivals at the present time.
Everything suggests tomorrow's game will go right to the wire with the two sides appearing to be evenly matched in both the men's and women's sections.
It is interesting, however, that even in a game of this importance Opaki will, according to spokesperson Russell Broughton, be continuing their rotational policy with their No.1 women player Katie Wyeth being rested after being part of Wairarapa's magnificent victory in the quinrangular inter-provincial tournament last weekend.
That move sees Katie's mother Jan Wyeth moved to the No.1 spot with Vicki Temple at No.2 and how they cope against the likely Martinborough duo of Libby Paterson and Carla Didsbury could have a big say in the end result.
Broughton, Brett Dymond, Stu Wyeth and Matt Stewart will make up a formidable men's section for Opaki but Martinborough have any amount of ability there too with Steve Chapman, Marco de Groot, Andy Darling and Carl Petersen all in good touch.
