Opaki charging up ladder

Opaki continued their charge up the Wairarapa regional one tennis points table when they thumped Gladstone 8-1 on Saturday.
It was a convincing display by Opaki although they were helped by the fact they won two matches by default.
Russell Broughton continued his unbeaten run at the top of the singles order for Opaki by disposing of Alister McWilliam 6-1-6-0 and the top women's singles saw Opaki's Katie Wyeth drop just the two games in beating Margaret Goodall 6-1-6-1.

Men's singles: Russell Broughton beat Alister McWilliam 6-1, 6-0; Brett Dymond beat Bruce Patrick 6-4, 6-1; T. Nelson lost to Peter Morriss 2-6, 1-6; Nick McGovern beat Dick Hodson 6-3, 7-6.
Women's singles: Katie Wyeth beat Margaret Goodall 6-1, 6-1; Jan Wyeth won by default.
Men's doubles: Broughton and Dymond beat McWilliam and Patrick 6-4, 6-3.
Women's doubles: McGovern and Wyeth beat Hodson and Goodall 6-2, 6-3; Nelson and Wyeth won by default.
