One seriously injured in Auckland crash

A person was seriously injured in a crash on State Highway 20 last night.

Emergency services including ambulance and police officers rushed to the scene on the Southwestern motorway near Hillsborough about 11.20pm.

St John Ambulance transported one person to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition.

Northern Police spokesman Inspector Tony Edwards it appeared the crash occurred when a car hit a roadside barrier.

"It looks like a car versus a barrier, only one car was involved," he said.

"The person had serious injuries but they didn't appear to be life-threatening on assessment."
