The search for a 35-year-old Petone man, who didn't return from a fishing trip last night, has been abandoned because of poor weather.
The Pacific Island man went out crab fishing in a dinghy at 9.30 last night, with just one oar and without a life jacket.
Police divers, maritime police and the Coastguard have spent today scouring York Bay near Eastbourne for the man's body, but without success.
Meanwhile police divers are due to arrive at the scene of a double drowning to find an unrecovered body.
Two Asian men were washed out to sea while diving off the rocks at Waimarama Beach in Hawke's Bay on Friday evening.
The body of a 30-year-old Singaporean has been found but a 23-year-old Chinese student is still missing.
The men are visitors to the country and police are having a difficult time contacting relatives overseas.
