One person has been taken to hospital following an early morning blaze in a central Wellington office building.
The fire, which broke out on the sixth floor of the Vodafone building at Midland Park, was reported to emergency service at 6.30am.
Central fire communications shift manager Murray Dunbar said eight fire crews were called, and managed to extinguish the blaze shortly after 7am.
"There was one person taken to hospital with smoke inhalation, believed to be an occupant [in the building]."
Early reports indicated the fire was caused by a problem with an air-conditioning unit in the building, he said.
