A man has been critically injured after being hit by a van outside an Auckland party this morning.
Police have confirmed that the man was attending at party at an address on Mount Wellington Highway.
He was crossing the road outside the party at about 4.45am when a van struck him.
The van then left the scene.
Senior Sergeant Jeff Waldron said the identity of the driver was not known.
"We are seeking information in relation to a black Mazda Bongo," he said.
"If you have any information about one that may have some damage to it, please let the police know."
Waldron said the man suffered serious injuries.
"An investigation is underway, we are talking to witnesses."
Diversions are in place as police carry out a scene examination.
A shoe can be seen lying on the road near where the man was hit.
