Masterton District Council does not contribute money to the Wairarapa Regional All Weather Track Trust on a yearly, or operational basis.
A one-off grant of $12,730 was made last year to help with the installation of lights at the track and, in this financial year, $10,000 has been budgeted tosupport athletics.
That money is "not necessarily for the track trust", says council spokesman Sam Rossiter-Stead.
"The council also budgets depreciation expense on its investment in the track, fencing and lights," Mr Rossiter-Stead said.
Likewise the council does not receive any income from the track trust.
It has not paid for any maintenance work done on the track surface but does foot the bill for grass mowing for the Colin Pugh Sportsbowl as a whole and for turf renovations, litter control, paths and carpark maintenance, tree and shrub work and removing graffiti.
Regarding the use of the lights at the track, Mr Rossiter-Stead said if they were on a user-pays basis the council had not received any income as a result.
