One man remains in a serious condition after a fight in Hillcrest, Auckland.

Police were called to a property on Eban Ave about 1.50am to reports of two men fighting.

Waitemata police Detective Senior Sergeant Callum McNeill said one man suffered stab wounds to his chest during the fight and was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

"He remains in a serious but stable condition," he said.

"The other man was also injured during the fight but has now been released from hospital and is currently being interviewed by Crime Squad Detectives."

Inquiries were ongoing with police at the scene completing a scene examination.

McNeill said the two men were known to each other and police were not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
