One killed in SH1 head-on crash

One person is dead after a head-on collision on State Highway One north of Auckland today, police said.

The accident involving a truck and a car happened about 7.50am between Warkworth and Waiwera and near the intersection with Moirs Hill Rd.

The victim died at the scene. Further details about the incident were not yet available.

The crash had blocked the highway, Sergeant Christopher Money, from the police northern communications centre, said.

Northbound traffic was being diverted on to Puhoi Rd, while southbound traffic was being directed on to Woodcocks Rd.
