One killed and five injured in Kapiti crash

A 16-year-old girl has been killed and five others injured - one of them critically - after a 4WD ute rolled on the Kapiti Coast this morning.

The accident happened on Maungakotukutuku Rd, inland from Paraparaumu, just after 9am.

A man in his 20s is in a critical condition and has been flown to Wellington Hospital by rescue helicopter and the others have been taken by ambulance, police said.

The road has been closed and serious crash investigators are investigating the cause of the accident.
