KEY POINTS:
At least one person is in a serious condition in hospital after a van collided with a parked car in Dunedin last night, police say.
Detective Sergeant Brett Roberts said five people had been in the van when the accident happened on Wakari Rd in the suburb of Helenburgh about 5.30am.
A number of people were trapped in the van and had to be extracted by the Fire Service.
At least one of them was taken to hospital with serious injuries, he said.
Police were investigating the cause of the crash, Mr Roberts said.
