The manager of a Christchurch laundry was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation after battling a blaze at his business.
Fire fighters were called to the Rent-A-Cloth in Raycroft St, Phillipstown, about 9.30 last night.
A fire spokesman said the blaze was visible from a distance, although it wasn't as bad as thought when fire fighters arrived.
The business suffered significant smoke damage and one of the laundry's managers was also affected by the smoke.
"He made a decision to try and fight the fire and unfortunately was treated for some inhalation and taken off to hospital," the spokesman said.
