One person died at the scene of a crash on State Highway One south of Waimate today.
Inspector Dave Gaskin, area commander of Mid South Canterbury police said the person died after a crash between a truck and a car near Glenavy just before 10am.
Diversions were set up following the crash but were lifted this afternoon.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash and the motorist's death will be referred to the coroner.
