One person died on New Zealand roads this weekend.
Matamata farmer Murray Albert Galloway, 62, was found dead after the car he was driving hit a tree on Tower Rd in Matamata about 3.30pm Saturday.
Sergeant Graham McGurk, of Matamata police, said a post mortem would be carried out today, the results of which may help determine the cause of the crash.
Mr Galloway was the only occupant of the car, which appeared to have drifted slowly across the road on to the verge, where it struck a large tree.
A Land Transport Safety Authority spokesman said if the death proved to be of natural causes it would not count as part of the official road toll.
