One dead, two seriously injured in Taupo crash

One person is dead and two are seriously injured after a crash on State Highway 1 near Taupo today.

The crash happened at Wairakei, 10km north of Taupo, about midday.

The road was closed with diversions in place.

The two injured people had been airlifted to Waikato hospital, Inspector Tony Edwards, of northern police communications said.
