KEY POINTS:
One person is dead and two are in hospital after a two car collision in Leamington, near Cambridge.
The crash happened about 3pm, at the intersection of Lamb and Shakespeare streets.
Police said two people were trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed by firefighters using extraction equipment. They were taken to Waikato hospital.
The Waikato Serious Crash Unit are investigating the crash.
