KEY POINTS:
One person died and three others were injured in a motor accident on State Highway 2 at Te Hauke, south of Hastings, last night.
Fire, police and ambulance personnel had to cut the victims from the vehicle.
The Lowe Corporation rescue helicopter was called to the scene shortly after 9pm. It airlifted a man with serious multiple injuries to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
Two other people from the vehicle were transported to hospital by road.
A Hastings police spokesman said the accident happened at the intersection with Waikareao Rd and the highway was closed at 8.32pm. Diversions were in place.
