A 20-year-old woman is dead and seven injured after an overloaded vehicle rolled near Swanson, west Auckland, this afternoon.
Ambulance staff said the group was in a car that crashed at Te Henga Rd shortly before 2pm.
The woman died at the scene.
The vehicle went out of control on a moderate bend, left the road hit and bank and overturned.
The 20-year-old from Massey died after suffering head injuries.
It appears the woman was not wearing a seatbelt and the vehicle was overloaded, police said.
The seven other passengers including the 19-year-old male driver were all taken to hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
Senior Constable Karl Bevin of the Waitemata Serious Crash Unit said the accident highlighted the importance of all occupants wearing their safety belts.
