A woman is dead after a car crashed into a power pole in the Waikato this morning.
The accident happened at the intersection of Hopkins and Hinuera Rds, south of Matamata, 62km east of Hamilton, some time before 4.30am, said Fire Service northern communications shift manager Steve Smith.
It was not known how many people were in the car.
Emergency services were still at the scene and no further details were available.
