A woman is dead after a two-car crash in Dargaville today.
Police and emergency services are still at the scene of the accident on Bayly's Coast Road.
Police say it appears one of the cars "may have veered to avoid a pool of water on the road" and collided with a car coming the other way.
The occupant of one vehicle, a woman, died as a result of the crash and the driver of the other car suffered moderate injuries, say police.
Police are urging drivers to avoid the area of the crash and have put in place diversions at Scotty's Camp Road and Bayly's Basin Road.
Police are also urging all drivers to take care in the far north due to flooding.
