One dead in North Shore house fire

One person is dead following a house fire on Auckland's North Shore this morning.

Firefighters were called to a house on Marcel Place in Glenfield at about 1.30am.

Takapuna senior station officer Shaun Pilgrim said a body was found in a car parked in the garage.

There were no details on the sex or age of the victim.

Mr Pilgrim said three fire appliances responded and the fire was contained to the vehicle, garage, and a small laundry.

The fire is not labelled as suspicious at this stage, he said.

Police and fire safety are investigating.
