A woman has died following a head-on collision in the Manawatu Gorge earlier today.
The 78-year-old Woodville woman was one of two people rushed to Palmerston North Hospital with serious injuries following the two-vehicle crash at the Woodville end of the gorge around 12.50pm.
The woman has since died of her injuries, police said tonight.
Her name would not be released until family members had been informed, police said.
The police serious crash unit was investigating the crash.
