One person is dead and another seriously injured after a crash on the Lindis Pass in north Otago this afternoon.
The seriously injured person had been flown to Dunedin Hospital, said Sergeant Mike Williams of Cromwell police.
The crash, on State Highway 8, involved a single vehicle.
Two other occupants of the vehicle had been treated at the Cromwell medical centre for minor injuries.
Mr Williams said the Lindis Pass remained open but was currently down to one lane while police carried out their investigation.
Police were speaking with the driver and passengers of the vehicle involved and witnesses from a second vehicle.
