One person has been killed in a crash on State Highway 29 in the lower Kaimais, Bay of Plenty.
Two cars collided near McLaren Falls Rd about 3.30pm, police said.
The road is now closed in both directions.
An ambulance spokeswoman said one person was still on the scene ina serious condition, while another person was being taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
SH29 has been closed in both directions while the serious crash unit is in attendance.
