One person has died and another has been injured after a single-vehicle crash near Gore.
Emergency services were notified of the crash, on Donald Rd, Maitland, at 7.59pm.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating and the road is closed while the scene is cleared.
It was the first of two fatal crashes on New Zealand roads tonight.
The second, in south Auckland, happened about 10.30pm. Three cars collided at the intersection of Te Irirangi Drive, Cavendish Rd and Great South Rd.
