One dead in Far North bridge crash

One person is dead after a car hit a bridge near the small settlement of Peria in the Far North today.

Ambulance staff were called to the crash at Oruru Rd, Peria, about 15km north of Kaitaia, but the person was dead.

The body was removed by firefighters.

Few other details were available but it was thought only one person was in the car, a Nissan Bluebird.
