One person has died after a crash between a car and truck near Christchurch this afternoon.
Police said the crash happened on State Highway 1 between Dawsons Rd and Weedons Ross Rd south of Templeton about 12.30pm.
The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene, while the truck driver was reported to be uninjured.
Police said SH1 was likely to be closed for the at least the next two hours with diversions southbound from Dawsons Rd onto Jones Rd and northbound from Weedons Ross Rd onto Jones Rd.
Police investigations into the crash were continuing.
