One dead in car-truck crash

A person is dead after a truck and a car collided on Highway 27 east of Morrinsville in Waikato.

Senior Sergeant Matt Rogers of northern police communications told NZPA the accident happened at the intersection of State Highway 27 and Given Rd, tonight.

"A person from the car is dead and we are unable to ascertain the gender of the person.

"There is a possibility there are more dead from the car but it cannot be confirmed at this stage yet."

Police and emergency services were attending the crash.

The vehicles were still on the road and have not been moved yet, Mr Rogers said.
