State Highway 75 - the Christchurch to Akaroa Road - is expected to re-open this morning after a fatal crash overnight.
One person died in the single-car crash, which happened at 12.20am between Robinsons Bay and Takamatua Bay.
The driver was the only person in the car.
Road closures were in place overnight but the road is expected to reopen this morning.
