One dead following Northland crash

A man has died in a crash in Northland this morning.

Police said one vehicle was involved in the crash at 9am, inland from Taipa, east of Kaitaia.

Police said the deceased was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which left the road and rolled, and was found shortly afterwards by another motorist.

Family members have arrived at the scene on Paranui Rd.

The police serious crash unit are on the way to the location to begin a scene examination, police said.

Early reports were that the man was trapped inside the vehicle.

Police had now received confirmation he had died at the scene.

It's the second fatal crash this morning. Another person died in a two-car collision on State Highway 5 between Taupo and Rotorua at 7.40am.
