One person has died in a crash at Waihau Bay in the eastern Bay of Plenty.
A helicopter was dispatched to the scene at 2.10pm, a St John spokesperson said.
St John said they treated one person at the scene and did not transport anyone to hospital.
A police spokesman said they were called at 2.25pm to a collision involving a motorbike and a light van on SH35, Waihau Bay.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said it had closed SH35 Otutehapari Rd Waihau Bay due to the crash.
"Please follow the directions of the emergency services on site. Please consider delaying travel through this area."
Warren Pay, jailed for murder, is now free after being re-sentenced for manslaughter.
