One dead after Taumarunui crash

A collision in Manunui, south of Taumarunui, has killed one person and left a man with serious injuries.

Police said the crash occurred about 3am, south of the intersection of State Highway 4 and SH41.

Neither vehicle was carrying passengers and one - that of the deceased - was found down a bank.

The injured man was taken to Taumarunui Hospital.

Traffic diversions were expected to be removed later this morning after serious crash investigators completed a scene examination.
