One person is dead and four others injured after a car and a stationary truck collided in southern Taranaki today.
Inspector Paul Jermy said the crash happened about 2.30pm at the intersection of State Highway 3 and McKenna Road.
The dead person was one of five people in the car. Two other occupants were airlifted to hospital and a further two were taken by ambulance.
"Early indications are that the car may have crashed into the rear of the truck, which was parked on the side of the road," Mr Jermy said.
"The occupants of the truck were not in the vehicle at the time and were not injured."
