One dead after Parakai Springs incident

A 51-year-old man is dead after he suffered a heart attack at Parakai Springs in Auckland last night.

Emergency services received a call from the hot pools, which are north of Helensville, at 7pm.

Parakai Springs office manager Annette Hemehema said the man wasn't in the water at the time of the incident.

"A gentleman had a heart attack and unfortunately passed away."

She said ambulance staff "worked on him for a while" but the man could not be revived.

There were a number of people at the pools at the time, she said.

"We had to exit all the other swimmers from the complex."
