A person has died following a crash south of Dunedin this afternoon.
The crash between a car and a small truck occurred about 3.20pm on State Highway 1 between Milton and Waihola.
The crash blocked the highway in both directions.
Police said in a statement that a person had died following the crash and three other people, including the truck driver, had been taken to hospital with serious to moderate injuries.
SH1 remained closed as of 5.10pm while the serious crash unit carried out its investigation.
